Glimpse.

A Perfect Day for A Wedding.

The weather today will be cloudy with a 70% chance of rain. If ever a day the weather man was wrong it was today. White fluffy clouds in a blanket of bright blue, sun shining and smiles and laughter everywhere. Today God truly blessed this couple on their wedding day. Jeanette didn't even have one ounce of doubt that her day was not going to be perfect. Everyone else woke up that day hoping and praying that it would not rain, but in our doubt grabbed our rain jackets and umbrellas in response to the morning news report. Their was coffee flowing, tears flowing, dresses flowing, but rain was defiantly something that was not flowing on that beautiful Spring day. We all waited in anticipation for the bride to arrive. Looking everywhere because we didn't know how she was going to arrive. When we heard the first voice start to sing we knew it was time. We all got quiet and turned our heads to the two voices we heard from behind the crowd. It took a lot in me not to scream out in excitement, because this was my first wedding I was trying to model the adults around me. I looked to the groom and saw the excitement in his eyes, or maybe that was a look of complete nervousness, im sure it was a combination of both. I then heard to more voices start to sing and someone began to strum a guitar. It was time! I was completely beside myself and quickly pulled out my camera to capture this candid moment. one song after another, describing their journey and story. We were all turned around listening to Jared when the red mini van finally pulled up. I turned around to see the BEAUTIFUL Snow White climbing out of her carriage. Heaths eyes began to glow as he walked towards her and grabbed her hands.

PoWeR.

What makes a photo powerful? What makes a photo good?
To me, the first question I ask myself, is does it catch my attention, because if a picture cannot do that I tend to skim over it and move on to the next. If the picture does draw my eye then I ask myself, what does this picture make me think? Remind me of? Is it a memory of when my siblings were born, or a time I felt free? Is it a memory that hasn't occurred yet? Such as a dream? Do I wish that I took the picture? Do I want to share it, spread it, and post it again for later use? If These questions are mostly answered yes... It is a powerful picture, to me at least, to you, only you know that.

Handbook

These photos were inspired by Elliot Erwitts Handbook. Hands are a part of our lives. They are used to say hello, show our love, type and do the little things that are a part of our lives everyday. To make hands the sole subject in the picture, it is important to notice what the hands are doing and what you want to portray in your photos. The action of the hands are the important part. What story are they trying to tell? Why is the placement important? Like in the picture below, it isn't important what he is doing on the computer, or what he is looking at; the focus is on the hands and the action of typing. One of my favorites out of this bunch of photos is the second to last one. When looking at the old lady's hands you can see how they don't look like my sisters. They are wrinkled and worked, skinny and lanky. They symbolize life and her journey, we don't know who she is or what shes done, but we can see she had lived her life through her hands.

Different.

Power. (Warning many of these made me cry)

inspiration, passion, persistence, timing, perception, captivating, feeling, emotion, impact, story, and composition.

"We look for a moment when something inner is revealed, often an image which would raise questions or provoke a reaction. There should be a balance between the aesthetic and informative elements, so the best pictures contain both the imaginative splendour of a painting and the reality of the world we live in. Human dignity must be respected even in the worst situations."

capture the moment, pose, or scene in his own unique style.
invokes a sense of serenity.

to keep an eye out for those special moments and learn how to anticipate them so that you are prepared for them.

aim is to 'capture images that reflect a culture's real identity in a candid honest way, without artefact or the superimposition of my style over the subject matter'.

"Most often, the photographs that really touch me are documentary images that show the emotions of their subjects. I also look for perfect composition, of course, where light, colours and action come together. But those rare images that also give me a feeling of insight, freezing forever a moment in that person's life, are the ones that stay with me. It doesn't have to be something dramatic, maybe just the look between a mother and a child, or the joy of children playing."
thought provoking images.
